MSJ takes down Bluffton in straight sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team battled Mount St. Joseph from start to finish but the 18-1 Lions got it done in three sets (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023. Bluffton fell to 5-19 overall and 0-4 in the Heartland, while the visitors stayed perfect in the HCAC at 4-0.

Leading the offense was freshman Kasey Sager (Troy) who spanked eight kills while hitting at a red-hot .353 clip. Senior Kelly Armentrout (Lima/Shawnee) and junior Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) chimed in with six putdowns apiece. Sager also added a pair of blocks.

Freshman Mallory Fluharty (Wooster/Triway) doled out 20 assists on Wednesday night. Junior Kaylei Barnett (Wapakoneta) rifled a career-best three aces at the Lions! Sophomore Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) picked up a team-leading nine digs.

Bluffton will play its fourth straight home match on Friday, Oct. 20, when Hanover College comes to town. The Beavers kick off Homecoming weekend with first serve slated for 7 p.m.
