SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team battled Wittenberg, but the Tigers prevailed in four sets on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024. Bluffton fell to 13-7 on the season, while the hosts improved to 8-6.
Wittenberg sandwiched a pair of 25-22 wins around a 25-19 Bluffton victory before the Tigers cinched it with a 25-15 runaway in the fourth set.
Senior Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) hammered away with 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage for the Beavers. Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) and Chloe Sample (Springfield/Catholic Central) followed with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
Directing the offense was Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) who handed out 29 assists for the visitors. She also chipped in with nine digs and two aces.
Sophomore Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) led the back line with 19 digs. Woods chimed in with nine pickups. Junior Paige Massie (Alvada/Arcadia) stuffed the Tigers three times.
Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center for a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 12. The lidlifter against Franklin is slated for 1 p.m. with Alma on tap for approximately 5 p.m.
