Earlham takes down Beavers in straight sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team played right with Earlham, but the Quakers won out in the end with a victory in staight sets on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024. Earlham nailed it down 25-23, 25-23 and 25-20 as the visitors improved to 8-12 overall and 2-2 in the Heartland Conference. Bluffton slipped to 16-9 and 1-3 in the HCAC.

Senior power hitter Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) went 15-3-45 for a .267 hitting percentage and she added a pair of aces. Also hammering away on the outside was junior Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) who finished with 14 kills and a .205 hitting clip.

Sophomores Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) and Ella Taylor (Urbana) dished out 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) came up with a team-high 18 digs, while Ashlie Nuss (St. Marys/Memorial) chipped in with eight.

Bluffton will make its inaugural trip to Berea for a conference match with the newest member of the HCAC on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m.
