HCAC Cross Country Championship Recap

BLUFFTON WOMEN PLACE 5TH AND MEN 6TH AT HCAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

On October 29, 2005 Bluffton University hosted the 2005 HCAC Cross Country Championships. Anderson University swept the team championships as the women finished with a score of 31 and the men recorded a perfect score of 15. 

Hanover's Leah Peelman was named HCAC Runner-of-the-year with a first place finish, crossing the line in 21:48.33.  The women's Freshman-of-the-year award went to Liz Otte of Hanover College who finished 12th (24:30.40).  The top 12 finishers were named to the All-HCAC team.  

Stephen Cohen of Anderson was the men's champion, finishing the 8k race in 25:26.44 and earning HCAC Runner-of-the-year honors. Anderson's Troy Pryor was named Freshman-of-the-year after placing 8th with a time of 26:46.36.  The top 12 men finishers were named to the All-HCAC team.

Bluffton's women finished the day with 129 points which was good for 5th place. Sophomore SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) led the way for the Beavers earning All-HCAC honors, placing 11th with a time of 24:23.58. Senior JEN CREAMER (Westerville/Westerville South) finished 18th crossing the line in 25:09.72. Senior STEPHANIE WELCH (Berne Ind./South Adams) and freshman BREE FETTERMAN (North Royalton/Padua)finished 32nd (26:44.10) and 34th (26:52.52) respectively.

The men ended the day in sixth place. Senior DAN ROSEBROCK (Napoleon/Napoleon) led the way finishing in 28:38.46, good for 24th place. Sophomore HILARY SHILISIO (Eldoret, Kenya) placed 26th with a time of 29:11.50. Sophomore MIKE KOCH (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) and senior PAT COOLEY (Ludlow Falls/Milton Union) were 36th (30:23.38) and 37th (30:32.38) respectively.

The Beavers return to action on November 12 at the NCAA Regional Meet.
