Women place 2nd, men 3rd at Beaver Invite

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Beaver cross country team competed in its only home meet of the season on Friday, September 22. The women had a strong meet, finishing second in a closely contested race with HCAC rival Defiance and Grace College. SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) led the Beavers with her third place finish, running 25:23. BREE FETTERMAN (North Royalton/Padua) ran a solid race and broke into the top 10 with her ninth place finish. Rounding out the top five, Bluffton's JENNIFER THOELE (Laura/Milton Union), LAUREN BAILEY (Powell/Upper Arlington) and SARAH BINKLEY (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) finished in a tight pack to help the Beavers edge out rival Defiance College.

The men's team finished third against tough competition from Manchester and Grace College at the Beaver Invite. Once again, HILLARY SHILOSIO (Eldoret, Kenya) was the leader of the men's squad with a 14th place finish, running a time of 29:42. PATRICK COOLEY (Ludlow Falls/Milton Union) was not far off the pace, finishing in 18th place. Rounding out the top five were DAVE ESPINOZA (Toledo/Whitmer), MIKE KOCH (Liberty Center/Liberty Center), and JOHNNY ICHRIST (Toledo/Whitmer) who competed in his first race of the season. 

The Beavers return to action on Saturday, September 30, at the Earlham College Invitational.
