WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country team traveled to Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 17, for the Beavers last competition prior to the Heartland Conference Championships in two weeks.
Pacing the Bluffton men was freshman ANDREW CHAFFEE (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) who crossed the line in 28:52.87 for a 117th place showing. Next for the Beavers was senior JUSTIN DERRINGER (Brookville/Brookville) in 163rd place with a time of 30:13.53. Sophomore BRIAN TIMPE (Wauseon/Pike-Delta-York) and junior BEN SIEBERT (Celina/Celina) came in 170th and 183rd with times of 30:33.21 and 31:28.65, respectively, in the 8K men's race.
Topping the Bluffton women's leaderboard was junior SARAH BINKLEY (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) who placed 83rd with a time of 21:58.03. Right on her heels was freshman HEATHER SMITH (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) with a time of 22:23.50 in 96th place. Senior DEBORAH DAVIS (Seneca, Penn./Christian Life Academy) and RACHEL HUELSMAN (Celina/Coldwater) rounded out the Bluffton finishers with times of 25:33.10 and 25:45.56, respectively.
Bluffton will be off next weekend before traveling to Manchester College for the 2008 Heartland Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1. The HCAC Championships are slated to start at 11 a.m. in North Manchester, Indiana.
