Bluffton women take third at Defiance College

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country teams competed at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Defiance College on Saturday.  The Bluffton women placed third overall, while host Defiance College took first for both men and women.

Leading the Bluffton women was junior Heather Smith (Elkhart, Ind./Concord), who placed 7th with a time of 21:40.00. Also scoring for the women was freshman Lyndsey Darrow (Pioneer/North Central), who came in 15th with a time of 22:38.00, sophomore Katy Heffner (Troy), placed 16th with a time of 22:47.00, sophomore Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kansas/Remington) crossed the line 20th with a time of 24:09.00 Freshman Ashley Hiller (New Philadelphia/Tuscarawas Valley) placed 25th with a time of 28:32.00.

Freshman James Whitt (Lancaster/Berne Union) led the Bluffton men by placing 20th with a time of 32:42.00. Rounding out the men was sophomore Jeremy Kidder (New Carlisle/Tecumseh), who placed 27th with a time of 35:31.00, and junior Kevin Hickman (Centerburg), who took 30th with a time of 38:14.00.
 
Next Saturday, September 18, the Bluffton Beavers will travel to Cedarville University for the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
