Beavers host Bluffton Invitational

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country teams hosted and competed in the short course Bluffton Invitational on Friday, Sept. 24. Competing in the 5k, the Bluffton men took third overall while the women raced in the 3k and took second. Defiance College men and women both took first.

Freshman James Whitt ( Lancaster/Berne Union ) led the Bluffton men by placing seventh with a time of 20:22.51. Rounding out the men was sophomore Jeremy Kidder ( New Carlisle/Tecumseh ), who placed ninth with a time of 21:07.30, and junior Kevin Hickman (Centerburg), who took 11th with a time of 22:05.68. 

Leading the Bluffton women was freshman Lyndsey Darrow (Pioneer/North Central), who placed sixth with a time of 12:50.11. Also scoring for Bluffton was sophomore Katy Heffner (Troy), who placed ninth with a time of 13:43.21, sophomore Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kansas/Remington), who came in 10th with a time of 13:45.33, and freshman Ashley Hiller (New Philadelphia/Tuscarawas Valley), who placed 14th with a time of 16:35.11. 

The Beavers will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Cedarville University to compete in the All-Ohio Championship.
