Bluffton wraps up cross country campaign at NCAA Regionals

HOLLAND, Michigan - The Bluffton men and women competed in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship hosted by Hope College on Saturday, November 13, 2010. The Bluffton women placed 31st overall while Calvin College took first on both the men and women's side.

Leading the Bluffton women in the 6k race was freshman LYNDSEY DARROW (Pioneer/North Central) who placed 178th with a time of 26:02. Also scoring for the women was junior HEATHER SMITH (Elkhart, IN/Concord) who placed 184th with a time of 26:22, ALISON JANZEN (Whitewater, Kansas/ Remington) who took 196th with a time of 27:04, sophomore KATY HEFFNER (Troy) who came in 211th with a time of 28:04, and freshman ASHLEY HILLER (New Philadelphia/Tuscarawas Valley) who came in 230th with a time of 32:53.

Freshman JAMES WHITT (Lancaster/Berne Union) led the Bluffton men in the 8k by placing 224th with a time 30:12. Rounding out the men was sophomore JEREMY KIDDER (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) who crossed the line 237th with a time of 33:29, and junior KEVIN HICKMAN (Centerburg) who took 239th with a time of 34:44.

The NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships mark the end of the 2010 cross country season for the Beavers.
