BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country team was back in action on Saturday, Sept. 12, as they participated in a three-team 3200 meet against Manchester and Transylvania. Conference rivals Rose-Hulman, Franklin, Hanover, Earlham and Mount St. Joseph also took part in the competition virtually from their home venues.

The men placed 3rd, led by freshman Ethan Ly (Celina) who finished in 3rd place at Salzman Stadium, running a time of 10:06. It was yet another impressive showing, adding to what has been a solid start to his debut season. After the race Ethan stated, "The track made the race so much faster than it would've been on a normal course. Combining that with intense competition made for one awesome start to the XC season!" Sophomore Britton Boyle (Middletown) and freshman Alex Montross (Perrysburg) capped off the top three for the men's team.

The women's team placed 2nd at Salzman and they were led by freshman Makenzie Brownrigg (Davidson) who finished the 3200 meter distance with a solid time of 12:51 which was good for 5th at Bluffton on Saturday. Mackenzie was very pleased with how the race went, saying "I thought it was a really fun way to get back into competition and showed the strength our team has. I'm really excited to see how the rest of our season plays out!" Fellow freshman Jenia Freewalt (Delphos/St. Johns) and Brooke Barnes (Ashland/Crestview) also had good showings, finishing 2nd and 3rd for the women.

The Beavers are in action next on Saturday, Sept. 26, when they travel for a 7:30 PM meet under the lights at Manchester University.
