WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Seven Bluffton University track and field athletes competed in the Division III Indoor All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Otterbein University, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. Only the top 16 athletes in individual events and the top 12 relay teams in the state are invited to compete. It was the most athletes representing Bluffton University since 2005.

Highlighting the championship meet was the women's distance medley relay team of sophomoreBRANDI DOMINIQUE (Wauseon), sophomore KAYLA MULLENHOUR (Delphos/Jefferson), junior ALISON JANZEN ( Whitewater, Kan./Remington ) and junior MADDIE MOORE ( Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams ). The relay team smashed the school record that was set earlier this season by some 22 seconds, running a time of 12:59.90. The outstanding effort placed the relay team 6th overall, an impressive feat for a squad that was seeded 12th going into the meet.

Freshman TRAVAUN REAVES ( Berkley, Mich./Berkley ) competed in the high jump and cleared 6-00.75 feet. This jump placed him 8th, a great finish that was six spots higher than his ranking heading into the All-Ohio Championships.

Also scoring for the Beavers was senior MEGAN NEAL (Arlington), who placed 6th in the weight throw with a toss of 47-03.50 feet. In addition to running on the distance medley relay, Dominique also competed in the open 800-meter run. She improved upon her 15th seed by placing 14th in the race with a time of 2:29.86.

These seven athletes will join the rest of the Beavers to compete again on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
